Zaria-SLJ-#Day 3 (Team Player)

Week 1: Physical Limits
Day 3: Team Player
Welcome to the third day of the summer learning journey. I have enjoyed doing it so far so let's continue with the 3rd day. Today it is mainly about sports and being a team player. Let's start!

Activity 1: Rugby Superstar

For this task we had to, imagine we were a super hero for a day. We then had to think of 3 super power we would want and why we'd want it. I enjoyed this task and hope you enjoy reading it!

Jonah Lomu is a Rugby Superstar and is like a  real life superhero. He was one of the youngest All blacks player, he started at age 19. He's strong tall and fast. Jonah grew up in a Tongan family in the South-Auckland Mangere. He played touch and league in school but changed to union so he could make a name for himself.

Another real life superhero is Riche McCaw a famous. He was the captain of the All Blacks 2004-2015. He a real role model and great at leading the All Blacks. He was, hard working and served the team well. He was a real team player!

If I could have 3 super powers it would be flight, invisibility and the power to move things with my mind. I'd want these super powers because they would be useful when saving people and everyday life.

I would want flight as it will allow me to get to place really quickly and also reach high up places, in case you didn't know I am very short. It would also help me catch super villains and traffic won't be a problem either. So as far as I'm concerned, this would be a great super power.

Secondly I would want invisibility. I would want invisibility because then I'll be able to catch thieves in the act, and put an end to super villain plots. I would also want invisibility as it would help me do things without getting noticed. I could take extra cookies from the cookie jar and no one would know.

The last super power I would want is the ability to move things with my mind. Because then I would be able to do things without moving. I am quite small and short thus meaning my physical abilities are limited. This super would allow me to do things.

Activity 2: Defying The Odds
For this task we had to think of a basket-ball player, we then had to think of 3 questions we would as them, if we were granted permission to interview them. I enjoyed this task and the basket-ball player I would want interview Valentina Vignali.

Zaria-SLJ-Day 2 (Up In The Air)

Week 1:Physical Limits
Day 2: Up In The Air
It's day 2 of the summer learning journey. Today we are focusing mainly on people that did amazing things and followed their dreams. Most of those dreams were to do with flying and air planes. My dream is to become a flight attendant. So this interested me a lot. Enjoy!

Activity 1: Flying Solo
For this task we had to compare 2 very talented people that followed there dream of flying. Jean Batten and Amelia Earhart. I made a compare and contrast with the help of my sister!

Activity 2: One Small Step For Man
For this task we had to write a poem about how Neil Armstrong felt about landing on the moon. This was quite an accomplishment, and also where the saying "One Small Step for man, one giant leap for mankind".

Neil Armstrong was one of the most amazing people. He was 1 of 3 people to land on the moon. Neil Armstrong took his first step on the moon and as he did her recited "One Small Step For Man, One Giant Leap For Mankind". Many brave people had attempted but failed to land on the moon, usually this resulted in death. So Neil must have been very brave to take on this task!

Activity 3: Miracle On The Hudson

For this task we had to recount a time, we or someone we know was brave, or did something brave. I didn't know a time I was completely brave
In 2009 Mr Chesley Sullenberger or Sully, received fame when he landed his aeroplane in the middle of the Hudson river. After both engines on sully's plane broke down, he was forced to make an emergency landing on the middle of the Hudson River in New York. Luckily all 155 people on board the plane survived. This was a brave accomplishment, and sully must've been very scared.

My story takes place, a few years. Me and my family were on a holiday in Fiji. My sisters were busy playing with the dogs and I was climbing a tree. I didn't have much to do, and I was bored. Anyways, as I climbed I came across a large beehive. I didn't think to much of it at the time. I continued to climb, but as I did. A large swarm of bees gathered around me. I didn't know what to do, I was scared. I screamed for help. My brave cousin quickly climbed up the tree and helped me get down. I didn't get to many stings, but I was taught a valuable lesson. Don't climb trees without parental super vision. I also learned to stay away from beehives.

That concludes the second day of the summer learning journey. I am having so much fun and can't wait to continue doing the summer learning journey. Hope you enjoyed, stay tuned for more!

Merry Christmas

Zaria-SLJ-Day 1(Exploring The World)

Week 1:Physical Limits
Day 1: Exploring The World
year I am doing the summer learning journey. I have never done this before, so I am looking forward to doing so new learning. My sister however has done this many times before. Let's Start!

Activity 1: Setting Sail
For this task we had to list all the Items we would take on a 3 week voyage. This is because this week we learnt about some Polynesian explorers. 1 amazing explorer is  Nainoa Thompson. He used his ancient knowledge to navigate around the world with a group of people.

Nainoa said that the planning of this voyage took place way back in the 70's when our ancestors invisioned and built this an amazing canoe. The Hokule’a and Hikianalia been on many voyages one being the Naoni a three week voyage, at which you will spend at sea. This voyage to 16 years of consideration before it was decided that they will actually carry out this task.

pasta, nuts, fruits, vegetables, milk, rice, eggs, canned food, cookies and lollies. I would take pasta because you can make many foods with this item and it is long lasting and not hard to keep edible. I would take nuts because they are healthy and will help to keep energised, nuts don't go bad often. I would take fruits because they are good to eat as snacks and you don't have to prepare them before eating. I would take vegetables, because they are healthy and you can make many dishes with them.

I would take milk because it is healthy and it is good to drink with dry nuts. If you take powdered or warm milk it  can last up to 8 years. I would take rice because it's delicious and easy to store. lastly I would take eggs as they are good to eat and you can use them to make many dishes. Canned foods are also good because they last long and you don't have to cook most of them.  I would take cookies and lollies so I can have a treat from time to time!

Task 2: Discovering Aotearoa
For this task we had to look back into our cultural backgrounds. We had to look at where out ancestors were born. I was born in New Zealand with my sisters. But my parents and my parent's parents were all born in Fiji. My family dates back generations in Fiji!

Activity 3: Scaling New Heights
For this task we had to choose 1 charity out of the 4 options we were given. We the had to learn as much as could about that charity. Afterwards we were to tell you what that charity does!

The Charity I chose was SPCA. The SPCA finds animals in need, and they provide them with food, care, and medical treatments. They have seen many bad cases, but they managed to save many animals. When the animals are in good shape they are put up for adoption and given a good home.

The money that the SPCA make from giving animal to the adopter are then used to save another animal. This charity has made lots of money and save many animals.

That finished the first day of the summer learning journey. I had fun and will continue doing the summer learning journey stay tuned for more!

Highlights of the year in The Block

I remember the time we had to write a story and I thought it was for a test or getting ready for a test. Will were playing lion tag and It was so funny when I nearly fell on the concrete But I was so lucky that I caught my belts. My favourite part of the game was when I got tagged because then I could find rest.

I also remember when we had cross-country and boiling. It wasn't that long ago it was in term 3. Cross Country was on the 16 if i remember correctly. My favourite part of this years Cross country was when I got to have a rest. We got water for free and I had to use some to wash off the mud on my shoes. My shoes looked discuss and horrible. You should have seen the look on my face after I splash water on my face and after I saw my graceful shoes.

I also remember when we had an Athletic day but I didn't get to go to Athletic day Because I was sick and I needed to stay in bed and when I was in bed I wonder what all of my friend did there and also I wish they did I bet it would be really fun I wonder if my best friend went. She really likes running. I wonder if it would be in the boiling in the hot sun with only as little bit of shade with a ton of kids. I wonder how everybody even could stay in their for a very long and sunny day.
