My First Day At Hogwarts

One remarkable morning I was on the train that had just stopped. I was told to get off the train and line up ready to be taken into our new school, Hogwarts, also known as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I was worried and nervous but I just continued walking to the boat with all the other witches and wizards that were going to Hogwarts. Finally we were taken into Hogwarts. It was noisy and everybody was so excited, I was glad because I knew that I would make some new friends at this school.

After a little while, we entered a place that was over flooded with frogs and soon the canoe was surrounded by frogs. I couldn't see anything but luckily, Hagrid put a spell on the canoe to make it roll itself. After we got out of that place safely, we saw a huge building, it resembled a castle. I wonder what it would look like on the inside. I was very thrilled so were all the other witches and wizards on the canoe around  me.

We finally entered the school called Hogwarts. Everybody was so content with joy and excitement. I had butterflies in my stomach, I was so nervous. We walked up the stairs which took a bit of time since there were multiple stairs and multiple people. Some people got turned into another direction on the way up but after we ended up in the same spot.

We walked up the two last stairs which was easily done, we looked up and we saw a lady who was going to show us to our classes. She gave us a great welcome to the school and she reminded us where to go which was very nice of them. I was so happy, I didn't even get to my first class but I knew that I'll have a brilliant day today.

After a little while I met a nice person who was also lost like me so we decided to walk together. We read the map together and got to know each other, and I learned her name was Hermione Granger. She asked me what my name was and I said I'm Harry Potter, she looked shocked and said “you mean the famous Harry Potter, who's parents died'', and I said “Yes” sadly. By the time we finished talking, we found out how to read the map which was a really hard job since we didn't learn how to control our magic yet. The directions on our map were different but I'm in the same area as Hermione but mine was math and Hermione’s class was magic.

Off I went to our classes which was boring since I had nobody to talk to because Hermione took the stairs and I just took the elevator. But it was ok because after a few minutes I did meet Hermione again at the door because our classes were right next to each other. After that our teachers came so I had to go to my class and Hermione had to go to her class. Hogwarts was going to be a great school. I was so happy I decided to go to  Hogwarts, because I knew it was going to be a good year.

First day at Crunchem Hall

One sunny day, I was on my way back home from my school, Pt England school. I was delighted to go home, school was tiring. Though I had no idea of the unfortunate events that awaited me at home.  My Mum and Dad brought me news of moving to a new school. This did not please me, but I didn’t retaliate.

The next day they dropped me at my new school. The school looked sad and gloomy. I walked to the door pushing it open; I tried my best to stay calm and collected. Paranoia struck me like a lightning bolt. Was I just imagining things or was this going to be my living hell?

The school's name was Crunchem Hall Primary School. Crunchem Hall? What a funny name I thought to myself as I walked through the black metal gates. I slowly walk to my first class, English, according to my schedule.

I walked into class not knowing what to expect, and how everything was going to go down. The day began. I met my teacher, she is very nice, and her name is Miss Honey. I think she's the nicest teacher I may have ever met. Almost as cool as my teacher’s at PES. Today wasn’t as hard as I had previously expected.

I wonder what my maths teacher is going to be like,  I really liked maths at my old school. Things were looking up, maybe this place isn’t that bad after all. I did make a friend; a girl named Amy. She seemed kind and thoughtful. I thought they were all going to be mean to me when I first started.

We soon came to meet the spiteful principle. She had yellow teeth, Brown slick hair and a very very big stomach. But despite her appearance, her words, her walk, her eyes, her tone, even her breath spelt out, ‘I hate children!’ I would not want to cross paths with her.

That lunch time, me and my friend were playing in the school field when we suddenly got called into the hall for a school assembly. A lady came into the hall known as the principal, her name was Miss Trunchbull. I got into the line, and that was when I found out how horrid she was. Did you know that Miss Trunchbull pinches kid's ears and throws them over the fence too?

Just as I thought that she was about to leave, she turned her bulging eyes, and her red face to me. I could smell her breath, it sent shivers down my spine. ‘YOUR HAIR IS TOO SHORT’ she stated, moving her mouth closer to my face as she attempted to slobber saliva on my face. ‘YOU MUST BE PUNISHED’ she said, moving her lips to emphasise her sentence. ‘YOU MUST GO TO THE CHOKI FOR THE REST OF DAY’ she screamed as she yanked me by my collar.

I thought that this would be the end of me. Goodbye shining sun, goodbye family, goodbye Netflix and goodbye life, see ya later, hoping to get out of there. After what felt like forever, I was shoved into a cupboard, which had nails, screws and sharp edges all over the walls, with the slightest turn I would be split into two pieces.

Without a doubt I was stuck, but thankfully the latch on the choki was barely hanging on. Meaning if I could find the right angle to shake at, it would unlatch. I looked for different ways, but it seemed that nothing was going to work. I kicked at the door a couple times and after a while it opened.

I walked out, but being in the dark cupboard made me sensitive to light, and while I was rubbing my eyes. My eyes caught a small flash, it was the blinking of a security camera light. I had a plan, but for now, it was time to go home.

The next day I shared my plan with my friends, and Miss Honey who agreed to help me. My plan was to distract her with a morning inspection well overdue for Miss Honey’s classroom. The girls wouldn’t be in class but instead excused by Miss Trunchbull to the bathroom, but instead to go and get the security camera footage. From there, they’d head to the police station and expose the truth about Miss Trunchbull and Crunchem Hall Primary. I put my plan into action. ‘The Hag has landed, THE HAG HAS LANDED”, she whispered dramatically. We got into her office after getting the key from behind the giant Trunchbull portrait in front of the door.

We got to the police station showing them hours and hours of footage, Miss Trunchbull had spent on torturing children and at some point she even threatened Miss Honey too. Yes, I know what you're thinking about the lovely Miss Honey getting bullied by this old lady. Now she had taken it too far.

The police took Miss Trunchbull away leaving the Crunchem Hall students without a principal. That's when Mr Burt showed up, and invited all the students to Pt England. !YAY! I was going back to my old school, Crunchem Hall Primary School was a very big adventure but it was too much for me. I'm glad to be back at PES where we Strive to Succeed!

Gorilla Description

Gorillas are very interesting creatures. Humans supposedly came from Gorillas apes and monkeys. However Gorillas and Humans behave very differently, they live in different places and don’t eat the same food. Gorillas sure are mysterious creatures?

Gorillas are large and muscular animals that need big areas with enough space to move around. They need special habitats, the city is no place for them. In order for primates to be happy they need to be with their families that’s why the live in the jungle.

File:Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Uganda.jpg ...Gorillas are very protective of each other; they protect their whole species like they are family. They can be very harmful to humans and cause some major damage. They are fast-moving animals and are very heavy and strong, making them very powerful.

As you know us humans like KFC Maccas and Pizza, but there’s nothing like that out in the jungle. Gorillas stick to nothing else but their fruitarian diet, nourish on stems, bamboo shoots and fruits. Making them SUPER HEALTHY. Occasionally they eat insects like termites and ants!

In conclusion Gorillas are very fascinating animals. They live in the jungles, they are very powerful and their diet is very healthy. It’s quite amazing that Humans evolved from these creatures of the wild!

Niuean History and Art History

Niuean History Sourced from Kiddle and Kahn-Academy

Facts:

Niue is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean. It is 2,400 kilometres north west of New Zealand. Niue is often referred to as the “Rock of Polynesia.” The capital city of Niue is Alofi and the population is 1,626 people.

Brief history:

Niue was settled by Polynesians from Samoa around 900 AD and further settlers arrived from Tonga in the 16th century. The first European to sight Niue was Captain James Cook in 1744, he made three attempts to land in Niue but was refused entry by the people of Niue. No visitors followed Captain Cook for decades until 1830 with the arrival of the London Missionary Society. In the late 1800’s Niue reached out to Queen Victoria to help as they believed their island nation would be taken over by other settlers. A British Protectorate was put in place however Niue was brought within the boundaries of New Zealand on 11th June 1901 which limited the island to the coordinates of its area. Self government was restored by New Zealand in 1974 where Niue chose to self govern the county. Niue is now a free governing state in free association with New Zealand. New Zealand conducts most diplomatic relations on behalf of Niue.

Hiapo: Niuean bark cloth

Little is known about early Niuean bark cloth or hiapo. The missionaries that arrived in 1830 from the London Missionary society brought with them Samoan missionaries who are believed to have introduced bark cloth to Niue. The earliest examples of hiapo were collected by missionaries and are dated to the second half of the nineteenth century. Niuean ponchos (tiputa) collected during this time are based on a style that had been previously introduced to Samoa and Tahiti. It is believed Niueans had a native tradition of bark cloth prior to the arrival of missionaries to the island nation.

In the 1800’s a distinctive style of hiapo decorations emerged that incorporated fine lines and new ideas. Hiapo from this time are illustrated with complicated and detailed geometric designs. The patterns were composed of spirals, squares, triangles and concentric circles. A recurring pattern (motif) decreased in size from the border to the centre of the art work. Niueans created naturalistic motifs and were the first Polyneasians to introduce depictions of human figures into their bark cloth. Some hiapo examples include writing which is usually names which run along the edge of the overall design.

Niuean Art Form

Niuean Art forms Sourced from Niue Language week presentation, Exploring ‘the Rock’, Air NZ Culture and Otago Uni

There are many different types of art created in Niue. These include weaving, sculpture, craft, wearable art, hiapo and many more. Today for you reading you are going to learn about some of these different art forms.

Weaving:

Weaving is a popular activity for women in Niue, some men weave too. Lalaga and tia are two popular techniques.

Lalaga - wrap and weft closed weave this is a technique used by many other cultures. Different cultures use different materials.

Tia - this is an open style weave which is shared with other Pacific cultures. It is a process of fashioning “eyes” that are somewhat similar to crocheting and knitting however it is not done precisely the same way. It is sometimes also called stitched weaving.

Weavers in Niue mainly use laufā (pandanus leaves), kā niu (coconut leaf mid-ribs), laniu (coconut leaves) and kala fou (fou fibers). Niue weavers in New Zealand obtain these traditional materials from Niue but they also use harakeke in place of laufā. Weavers also today use modern materials such as plastic strips, plastic bread bags, raffia, wool and string.

Carving:

Carvers make nafa (wooden slit drums from the wood of several different kinds of trees in Niue including the kieto and the telie. They also use New Zealand woods, such as tōtara. If you wander down the sea tracks you will pass small canoes or vaka which the local men use for fishing. Decades ago the arrival of dinghies almost saw the end of traditional vaka building but a handful of master carers still create new ones to order. Young boys in Niue learn to carve while at school and will often create a vaka as a project.

Hiapo:

“Hiapo” is the word for barkcloth or tapa in the language of Niue. Most known pieces of hiapo were produced in the mid to late nineteenth century and are now housed in various museum collections all over the world. Niueans made hiapo by felting and layering pieces of tapa cloth together. By the late 1800’s they had created their own indigenous style of decoration using free hand drawing and applying dye. The dyes were extracted from trees or plants. Hiapo makers incorporated motifs and designs representing shapes of plants and humans into their compositions which show human interaction with the natural environment.

Crafts:

People make jewelry including necklaces and bracelets from shells, beads and hihi (little yellow land snail shells). Items made from hihi are prized gifts because the shells are so small and the necklace made with hihi takes a long time to make. People pierce holes in them by hand with a needle. A necklace made with the rarer red and while hihi shells is especially valuable.

My Version Of THE LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD

In the largest and capital city of Paris France, little red riding hood was going to see her mother who was ill in hospital. Little Red Riding Hood was called Little Red Riding Hood because wherever she goes she wore a red hood. Her mother made for her and she refused to go anywhere without it.

She started her journey to the hospital. She had a gift basket filled with beautiful red roses, packet chocolates and a delightful blueberry pie. Her journey started with a walk through the remote forest, then arriving at the city finally she was going to have to take a cab to the hospital.

While continuing to travel she met a Chef. He came from a big fancy Italian restaurant. Dressed up in a white cotton chef’s outfit, and newly polished shoes topped off with a professional chef hat. It looked a bit like a mushroom. He walked up to Little Red Riding hood with a huge grin from ear to ear. He asked  Little Red Riding Hood if she was lost Little Red Riding Hood replied no, He then introduced himself. His name was Lumière, and he was free to accompany little Red on her journey.

Lumière wanted to get to know little red. So along the way they both shared stories about their past. Little Red Riding Hood started to like her time with Lumière. They continued that part of the journey to the city. When they Lumière said that he had something to attend to at the city, so he left little red to continue the rest of the journey.

Little Red didn’t think too much of it and continued to travel. She was now going to take a cab to the hospital which was 4 blocks away. Little Red sat in the back seat looking out the window. Meanwhile Lumière was running really fast all the way to the hospital. It turns out Lumière wasn’t what he seemed and was actually a killer in disguise. He planned to reach the hospital before little red and kill both her and her mother.

When little red finally arrives at the hospital. The cab driver accompanies little red into the hospital. When they arrived they saw that her mother looked a little odd. Little Red then asked “What a big mustache you have Mom?” Her much just shrugged “what big eyes you have” she said again the mom just shrugged. “Wow mom what big arms you have?” Little Red said backing away slowly she had figured it out, “ALL THE BETTER TO CATCH YOU WITH!” He screamed jumping out of the bed.

Little Red ran for her life, while the Cab driver knocked the knife out of the killer's hand. She ran to the receptionist and asked for help. After wild goose chase and a small investigation Little Red Riding Hood finally got to see her mom and along with that made friends with the Cab Driver. As for Lumière, he was taken by the police never to be seen again.

7. Explain why you like or dislike memes?

I love memes, there so funny, and they make me laugh, and who doesn't like memes. ;D

Memes

What is a meme?

An evolutionary biologist (Richard Dawkins in 1976) blended the ancient Greek word ‘mimeme’—meaning something imitated—with the English word ‘gene’, to set the stage for LOLcats, Success Kid, Rickrolling, and so, so much more.

Essential Meaning of meme:

1 -  an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from one person to another in a culture

2 - an amusing or interesting picture, video, etc., that is spread widely through the Internet e.g. a funny picture of a cat that quickly became an Internet meme

Memes change all the time. Nobody knows or understands every single meme that exists. There are simply too many, and they can often be too personal to the individuals creating and sharing them. Still, there are some common elements that can help you understand them.

What makes a meme a meme?

Even if memes seem impossible to understand, chances are you’ve come across at least one over the years that’s made sense to you. Whether you took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge, have a “Keep Calm” mug at home, or have ever used the words “Fail” or “Winning,” then you’ve participated in a meme.

You found out about it through word of mouth, you understood it, you changed its context, and you took it for your own use. And these are the key components (parts) of what makes a meme a meme.

Context can have a huge impact on what a meme means as well or how relevant it is to the recipient (person receiving it). Memes can also impart significantly more information than simple text alone.
