Zaria-SLJ-#Day 3 (Team Player)

Week 1: Physical Limits
Day 3: Team Player
Welcome to the third day of the summer learning journey. I have enjoyed doing it so far so let's continue with the 3rd day. Today it is mainly about sports and being a team player. Let's start!

Activity 1: Rugby Superstar

For this task we had to, imagine we were a super hero for a day. We then had to think of 3 super power we would want and why we'd want it. I enjoyed this task and hope you enjoy reading it!

Jonah Lomu is a Rugby Superstar and is like a  real life superhero. He was one of the youngest All blacks player, he started at age 19. He's strong tall and fast. Jonah grew up in a Tongan family in the South-Auckland Mangere. He played touch and league in school but changed to union so he could make a name for himself.

Another real life superhero is Riche McCaw a famous. He was the captain of the All Blacks 2004-2015. He a real role model and great at leading the All Blacks. He was, hard working and served the team well. He was a real team player!

If I could have 3 super powers it would be flight, invisibility and the power to move things with my mind. I'd want these super powers because they would be useful when saving people and everyday life.

I would want flight as it will allow me to get to place really quickly and also reach high up places, in case you didn't know I am very short. It would also help me catch super villains and traffic won't be a problem either. So as far as I'm concerned, this would be a great super power.

Secondly I would want invisibility. I would want invisibility because then I'll be able to catch thieves in the act, and put an end to super villain plots. I would also want invisibility as it would help me do things without getting noticed. I could take extra cookies from the cookie jar and no one would know.

The last super power I would want is the ability to move things with my mind. Because then I would be able to do things without moving. I am quite small and short thus meaning my physical abilities are limited. This super would allow me to do things.

Activity 2: Defying The Odds
For this task we had to think of a basket-ball player, we then had to think of 3 questions we would as them, if we were granted permission to interview them. I enjoyed this task and the basket-ball player I would want interview Valentina Vignali.

Image result for valentina vignali altezzaValentina Vignali is a  Model and basketball player. She is known for her commercial, advertisement and modeling for several different swimsuit brands. Before Valentina was famous she, did modeling at a young age after being involved in athletics. Valentina then appeared on the MTV style The Hottest Swimsuit 2017 which made her pretty famous. She was born and raised in Italy she was and people have said that she is dating Stefan Laudoni.

Zaria-SLJ-Day 2 (Up In The Air)

Week 1:Physical Limits
Day 2: Up In The Air
It's day 2 of the summer learning journey. Today we are focusing mainly on people that did amazing things and followed their dreams. Most of those dreams were to do with flying and air planes. My dream is to become a flight attendant. So this interested me a lot. Enjoy!

Activity 1: Flying Solo
For this task we had to compare 2 very talented people that followed there dream of flying. Jean Batten and Amelia Earhart. I made a compare and contrast with the help of my sister!

Activity 2: One Small Step For Man
For this task we had to write a poem about how Neil Armstrong felt about landing on the moon. This was quite an accomplishment, and also where the saying "One Small Step for man, one giant leap for mankind".

Neil Armstrong was one of the most amazing people. He was 1 of 3 people to land on the moon. Neil Armstrong took his first step on the moon and as he did her recited "One Small Step For Man, One Giant Leap For Mankind". Many brave people had attempted but failed to land on the moon, usually this resulted in death. So Neil must have been very brave to take on this task!

Activity 3: Miracle On The Hudson

For this task we had to recount a time, we or someone we know was brave, or did something brave. I didn't know a time I was completely brave
In 2009 Mr Chesley Sullenberger or Sully, received fame when he landed his aeroplane in the middle of the Hudson river. After both engines on sully's plane broke down, he was forced to make an emergency landing on the middle of the Hudson River in New York. Luckily all 155 people on board the plane survived. This was a brave accomplishment, and sully must've been very scared.

My story takes place, a few years. Me and my family were on a holiday in Fiji. My sisters were busy playing with the dogs and I was climbing a tree. I didn't have much to do, and I was bored. Anyways, as I climbed I came across a large beehive. I didn't think to much of it at the time. I continued to climb, but as I did. A large swarm of bees gathered around me. I didn't know what to do, I was scared. I screamed for help. My brave cousin quickly climbed up the tree and helped me get down. I didn't get to many stings, but I was taught a valuable lesson. Don't climb trees without parental super vision. I also learned to stay away from beehives.

That concludes the second day of the summer learning journey. I am having so much fun and can't wait to continue doing the summer learning journey. Hope you enjoyed, stay tuned for more!

Week 1:Physical Limits
Day 1: Exploring The World
year I am doing the summer learning journey. I have never done this before, so I am looking forward to doing so new learning. My sister however has done this many times before. Let's Start!

Activity 1: Setting Sail
For this task we had to list all the Items we would take on a 3 week voyage. This is because this week we learnt about some Polynesian explorers. 1 amazing explorer is  Nainoa Thompson. He used his ancient knowledge to navigate around the world with a group of people.

Nainoa said that the planning of this voyage took place way back in the 70's when our ancestors invisioned and built this an amazing canoe. The Hokule’a and Hikianalia been on many voyages one being the Naoni a three week voyage, at which you will spend at sea. This voyage to 16 years of consideration before it was decided that they will actually carry out this task.

pasta, nuts, fruits, vegetables, milk, rice, eggs, canned food, cookies and lollies. I would take pasta because you can make many foods with this item and it is long lasting and not hard to keep edible. I would take nuts because they are healthy and will help to keep energised, nuts don't go bad often. I would take fruits because they are good to eat as snacks and you don't have to prepare them before eating. I would take vegetables, because they are healthy and you can make many dishes with them.

I would take milk because it is healthy and it is good to drink with dry nuts. If you take powdered or warm milk it  can last up to 8 years. I would take rice because it's delicious and easy to store. lastly I would take eggs as they are good to eat and you can use them to make many dishes. Canned foods are also good because they last long and you don't have to cook most of them.  I would take cookies and lollies so I can have a treat from time to time!

Task 2: Discovering Aotearoa
For this task we had to look back into our cultural backgrounds. We had to look at where out ancestors were born. I was born in New Zealand with my sisters. But my parents and my parent's parents were all born in Fiji. My family dates back generations in Fiji!

Activity 3: Scaling New Heights
For this task we had to choose 1 charity out of the 4 options we were given. We the had to learn as much as could about that charity. Afterwards we were to tell you what that charity does!

The Charity I chose was SPCA. The SPCA finds animals in need, and they provide them with food, care, and medical treatments. They have seen many bad cases, but they managed to save many animals. When the animals are in good shape they are put up for adoption and given a good home.

The money that the SPCA make from giving animal to the adopter are then used to save another animal. This charity has made lots of money and save many animals.
Click this link to adopt today!

That finished the first day of the summer learning journey. I had fun and will continue doing the summer learning journey stay tuned for more!

Pick a Path

On a  normal day to school I was just walking casually with my friend Leyla. We normal chatting and  walking on the foot path! We had almost arrived at school WHEN.

suddenly marshmallow appeared at the front of me and my friend and said " I will gave you two choice's you could go to the shopping mall or you could go for a ride on a magical flying bus". Obviously we picked the shopping mall, we were walking to Gucci we bought a few things and on the way out we got more choices. The choices were you could go for a ride on a magical flying bus or you can keep on doing more shopping .

This time we decided to picked the ride on a magical flying bus  as we were fly on the flying bus we had to more choice's the choice's were that you could go down the steps and go to school and learn with your class or you could keep on fly on the flying bus we decided that we wand to go back to school so we pick to go down the steps and go to school and learn with your class. But I got a question for you the question is which option will you pick to go to if it happen in real life?

Immersion Assembly

Our school had an immersion assembly today, for the first day of term 2. I was super excited so I quickly decided to go to class. From class we walked to the hall, Mr Burt told about us about our theme. Our theme was I like you latitude, so Mr Burt explained it to us. After that the interesting stuff started!

Team 1 teachers presented their movie that they worked hard on during the holidays. The movie started with Pt England School in the future. It included things like fake fruit and what their ancestors had when they were at school. One of the girls from school watched some news and found out that the bees where decreasing and so she called some scientist that help animals. Then the scientist got to work and that’s where the movie ended. So team 1 was going to work on way to help bees.

Team 2’s movie was about an Easter egg hunt they had. In this movie they were told to look up look down look left, right and look all around. The hunt started and it looked like students where already finding eggs, the kids were rushing everywhere and they looked like they were having loads of fun. After the hunt they had a few kids talking about their experience and what they did to try and find eggs. It was very amusing!

Team 3’s movie was about a normal boring day torn into the best day in the world. It started out by Miss Scanlan walking to school and suddenly Mrs Carruthers the fairy appeared at the front of the Miss Scanlan and ask her if she wanted to go to the forest or the beach. She pack forest  then as she was walk through the forest she decided to go to the beach. After ward she went to the shops and finally arrived back to school and was greeted by the whole team!

The next video was from team 4 and it was about the teachers in team for going on a mission to get back to school and without any devices/Apps. The teachers had to use a compass and a map, they quite a lot of discussing and got lost many times. They all made a lot of stops and all had turns leading the way. When they finally arrived at school the teachers were not happy to see Mr Goodwin waiting for them and as payback they took his phone and he could use any device/app to get back home.

Team 5 did and act instead of a movie. Their act was about Mrs Tapuke wanting to travel around the world with her family can safari and saw the eiffel tower in pari, she even went to disney land and had the great wall of china. Her visit was very interesting, and we learnt that team 5 is going to be learning about the continents of the world.

Mrs Langitupu, Ms Va,afusuanga and Mr Vogt decided to also make a movie too. They made a movie about there amazing secret life outside and before school. It started with there journey to school and how long it took. The there was a sudden twist and an emergency happened Ms Va,afusanga had to save the world from a meteor that was hurling towards the earth. Mrs Lagitupu had to use her amazing computer skills and save the world from terrible hackers and Mr Vogt save the earth from a piece of pollution that could lead to a deadly virus. It was very exciting and always kept us at the edge of out seats, I hope there is a part 2!

I liked all the movies they were all interesting and had something different. But if I had to pick a movie it would be the movie from team 5 as it had a lot of funny moments. I loved all the movies and I am excited for the term and am ready to do loads of learning. I hope you will enjoy my blog posts this term!

Happily Ever After

Once upon a time there was a princess called Alina. She was an evil and maniacal princess, she lived in a spooky castle with torches lit by fire. Princess Alina liked to plan evil schemes in her castle towers she would make tinker with potions and spells and do a whole bunch of other things in her castle it was quite mysterious. The palace was not the best place to be indeed. Princess Alina was a big problem for the peaceful village down in the valley.

Princess Alina kept on casting mean spells on the poor village. They were tired and sick of all the mean nonsense. One day the village leader decided that he had enough of this. So he made an announcement to the village he said “this has to stop immediately or else our village is going to fall apart” “ I agree” said the people in the village “ we need a plan’’ said another.

After the king and his royal adviser came up with a top secret plan he let the village in on it. His plan was to trap princess Alina and ask to stop casting spell on the village and only cast nice spells, the second part was that if she disagrees they would throw her in the dungeons. They decided on this plan and when they were all happy they got into position.

They just arrived in there positions when princess Alina flew out of her tower window with a bottle in her hand riding a broomstick. When princess Alina had almost reached the village the leader ordered the guards to trap her using a net. So the next thing princess Alina knew she was trapped in a net face to face with the leader.

“WE WANT YOU TO STOP ALL THIS NONSENSE AT ONCE’’ The leader ordered in a stern voice, “okay but you have to let me go’’ said the princess. After they let the princess go they all decided to celebrate with a big celebration with cake dancing karaoke and loads of other things.

The village lived happily ever after,
The End!
