Explanatory Writing About The Sun

What is the sun?

The sun is an enormous star in our solar system. The sun is the closest star to Earth. The sun is the source of all the heat and light that makes flowers bloom, trees to grow and other things too.

The Sun is a star which is located at the center of our solar system. It is a yellow dwarf star that gives off different types of energy such as infra-red energy, heat, ultraviolet light, radio waves and light. The Sun is about a hundred times as wide as the Earth.

How does the Sun’s energy affect life on Earth?

Energy from the sun affects humans a lot because we need the Sun to live. Nothing is more important to us on Earth than the Sun itself. Without the Sun's heat and light, the Earth would be a lifeless and extinct ball of ice coated rocks.

The Sun warms our seas, stirs our atmosphere, and generates our weather patterns. The sun also gives energy to the growing green plants that provide the food and oxygen for life on Earth. The sun also helps to grow and to provide food for the animals all over the world.

The sun is the reason that animals, plants and humans live on Earth. Because life wouldn't exist without the sun. It's also the center of our solar system and by far its largest object in our solar system.

How does the orbit of the sun create night and day?

The Earth is one of several planets that orbit the sun, and the moon orbits the Earth. The Earth is primarily a sphere and the sun is a nearby star which is an unbelievably large ball of gas that radiates light and heat as products of nuclear reactions.

The Earth orbits the sun once every 365 days and rotates about its axis once every 24 hours. Day and night are expected to the Earth rotating on its axis, not its orbiting around the sun. The term one day, is set on by the time the Earth takes to rotate once on its axis and includes both daytime and nighttime.

This Is Just To Say

About My Birthday

Space Poem

The day Taal Erupted

 Dear Diary,

Today was unforgettable and unexceptional, I never saw this coming and also I was having a good day before this had happened! I was busy collecting water from the well, when the sun mysteriously disappeared from the sky. I did not know what was going on, I was so worried.

I looked up in the sky, it was so windy and I saw drey clouds up in the sky and rocks falling from the volcano, I think it was the Taal volcano. I was a bit scared but I stayed strong and I dropped the water to find some shelter to keep myself safe. The police had to get as many people as they could to safety, it was terrible.

The police were getting squashed by piles of wood and tiles falling from the roofs of houses to get people to safety. After a little while everything stopped and it went silent, it was like everything frozen. Suddenly it had expanded into a even bigger earthquake, The earthquake had made all the houses tumble to the ground.

As the earthquake continued people came and went, everybody was under so much stress right now. People trying to save their children and they had to get all the kids away from the entire area. They had bus drivers driving the kids and their parents away from this area so they would be safe.

I let the old people get on the bus first because I had a very good spot that I woulded get hurt. I grabbed some of the people that were waiting for the next bus and I left for my safe spot. It was by a valley, I had some camping stuff in the bonnet so I wasn't too scared.

My Birthday Dinner

Today we decided to eat out because it's my birthday , so we got ready and then we got in the car. We went and got 2 sizable chickens, one hot and one BBQ. It smelt delicious, my mouth was watering and it looked like it had lots of  flavours and Sauce on top. Then one of the waiters brought our food, and the whole restaurant smelled like delicious chicken.

I couldn’t wait to eat, I was so hungry and just looking at it made my stomach starve. This made me slightly regret the fact that I wanted to stay home. It was very cold outside so I kind of wanted to stay inside the restaurant because they had a heater. Nando's had a heater to keep the Marvellous restaurant warm from the stormy wind outside.

The waitress was very nice, she offered some different types of sauces to eat with our delicious chips.  We got both the plain chip and peri-peri chip which is a bit spicy. Which one do you prefer?  I had to eat the plane chips because the peri peri chips were a bit too spicy for me.

We also decided to get one wrap which was for my sister Zaeeda, she loves the wrap in Nando's. They are one of our favourite restaurants to go to for dinner outings. Nando's also has great table positioning, they don't mind if you join the tables together which is great because our family is a bit big so we need three tables for our beautiful family dinner.

About My Culture

I think it’s important for people to celebrate, share and to be proud of their cultures, and that is why I have decided to share my culture with you. My culture is Fiji Indian, so I have decided to tell you all about Fiji today.

Fiji is a lovely island, with many amazing sights to see, things to do and it has great food. Me and my family visit there often, as we have lots of family there. It’s an amazing and beautiful place!

Fiji is not just an island but it’s a country on it’s own. To many people Fiji is just an island or a part of New Zealand. This is because Fiji and New Zealand are both small countries. But Fiji is it’s own country. It has about 540 islets.

Fiji, is made up of many islands. Each one of these is unique and special in it’s own ways. Denarau and Mamanuca Island are two of the best islands in Fiji.

Along with the volcanic tourist attraction Mamanuca Island is also there. It is west of Nadi and south of Yawa Island. The tourist destination is made up of 20 islands. When it is high tide 7 of those islands are submerged.

Mamanuca Island is a volcanic tourist attraction. It is west of Nadi and south of Yawa Island.  The tourist destination is made up of 20 islands, 7 of those islands are submerged underwater at high tide.

Denarau Island is a man-made sanctuary, less than 10 kilometers away from Nadi. Denarau island was built on a former mangrove swamp, and is now a sanctuary for resorts, hotels. Denarau is also home to 6 world-class resorts.

The Islands of Fiji are located in the south-pacific ocean, like the other polynesian islands. Like New Zealand and Australia, Fiji is a part of the continent oceania. The island is filled with tropical beaches, coral gardens and beautiful forests.

Fiji is made up of more than 300 islands. It’s made up of many beautiful, palm-lined beaches and coral reefs with clear lagoons.

Fiji is mostly hot all year around, but in the summer which is in December, it’s super hot. But Fiji does experience some extreme weather between June-October, during that time it’s cyclone season.

The weather in Fiji is always amazing, if sunny skies and cool breezes are what you're looking for. But when it rains, it’s the perfect weather  to cuddle up and watch a movie. Or better yet go play in the rain. It’s never too hot or too cold in Fiji, it’s just right.

Most of the warmest temperatures are experienced in December. As December is considered summer in Fiji. Fiji’s coldest weather takes place in between June-Oct. Nov-April is the cyclone season. It’s said to be the driest month.

The food in Fiji is good too. Ice-cream tastes so much better when it’s hot. Coconut water is found everywhere and anywhere, for very low prices. Don’t get me started on the seafood, let's just say it’s all amazing and delicious.
